Dr. Brian Melius was born and raised in Metairie, Louisiana. He received his B.S. degree in dairy science from LSU in 1979. He went on to receive his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from LSU in June of 1983at which time he began practicing at MSAH. Dr. Brian is the current President of Metairie Small Animal Hospital. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, Southeast Louisiana Veterinary Association (SLVA). He is a former president and former board member of the SLVA. Dr. Brian is also a member of the Animal Welfare Commission formed in 2009 by Governor Bobby Jindal as well as a former Board of Trustees member for St. Martin’s Episcopal School.

Dr. Brian is married to Jennifer Tuero Melius. They have three daughters—Grant, Kristen and Logan. They currently share their home with a very special Maltese named Daisy, a rescued mix breed named Wilson and their Golden Retriever, Zeus. Dr. Brian enjoys golfing, fishing, and gardening as well as his workouts at the gym.
